Brit Tzedek v’Shalom

Jewish Alliance for Justice and Peace

Letter to the Editor
Town Meetings Essential for American Jews

The Jewish Advocate

April 2, 2004
Trudy Kontoff

Kudos to the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston, the American Jewish Committee, the Combined Jewish Philanthropies and Temple Shalom in West Newton for last week’s open forum promoting dialogue about the prospects for peace in Israel.

Hundreds of people attended the program at Temple Shalom. Given the often volatile reactions and widely-differing opinions of the Jewish community on this subject, all speakers were remarkable for their thoughtful, civil, and positive discourse.

These programs are essential for American Jews if Israelis and Palestinians are to move forward to a negotiated settlement and peace in the Mideast.
