Chaim Yavin

For the last 40 years, Chaim Yavin, known in Israel as "Mr. Television" and often described as the “Israeli Walter Cronkite,” has enjoyed a distinguished career in broadcast news covering a wide range of topics, from Israeli society and politics to the Arab-Israeli conflict and efforts at peace.

In addition to being news anchor for most of the last 30 years at Channel One, a station he helped found, he has served as an overseas correspondent in the U.S. and Europe, head of news at Israel TV, and director-general of Israel TV. He has directed approximately 80 documentaries to date.

Yavin's series Land of the Settlers represents a personal journey covering more than two years of excursions into the West Bank and Gaza to meet with Arabs and Jews from all parts of the political spectrum. In the process, Yavin articulates his own complicated and conflicted perspective on the occupation and its likely future.
