| Diane Balser
Diane Balser, PhD, is the CEO of Brit Tzedek v’Shalom, the Jewish Alliance for Justice and Peace. She is a Jewish leader and activist on the issue of Israeli-Palestinian peace and in the women’s rights movement. She was named CEO of Brit Tzedek in 2005, after having served as Vice-President on the organization’s board and chairing its National Advocacy and Public Policy committees for two years. In this capacity, she represented Brit Tzedek at the 2003 signing of the Geneva Accords. Dr. Balser has worked on Middle East peace issues with the Boston Jewish Community Relations Council and the Boston chapter of the Workmen’s Circle, and was a founding co-chair of Brit Tzedek’s Boston chapter. She has been instrumental in developing strong ties between Brit Tzedek and public policy leaders. Dr. Balser has further served as a consultant and trainer for Hadassah, ORT and the Israeli Women’s Network, and trained parliamentarians and women’s organizations in the Republic of Ireland. At the Third International Women’s Conference in Nairobi, she co-led a forum on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and at the Fourth Conference inn Beijing, consulted with Jewish women’s organizations on organizing a Jewish presence. In 2002, she served as a delegate to the World Conference Against Racism, in Durban, South Africa. Dr. Balser received her doctorate in Philosophy in Sociology from Brandeis in 1983. |
