Diane Gilboa, founder and Producing Artistic Director of Theatre Or (or is the Hebrew word for light), recently produced Voices from the Holy Land: A Festival of Staged Readings of Cutting Edge plays, a pioneering program utilizing plays by Israeli playwrights to promote dialogue about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Israelis and Palestinians lingered after one post-performance discussion to continue talking, and the Palestinians invited Theatre Or to reprise the performance at a subsequent NC state campus-wide university event. Theatre Or has been invited to collaborate with Israeli and Palestinian playwrights on the development of a play to be produced in Israel, the occupied territories, and the States, that will allow each side to explain its narrative to the other. Diane is the current vice-president of the Triangle Network of Theatres, its former president, an actress, teacher, and passionate arts advocate.
