Israeli Annexation Plans

To the editor:

What disappointing news! The success of the Gaza withdrawal opened the way for serious Israeli-Palestinian negotiations and created the hope for real progress toward long-term peace. But Israel's latest land confiscation to build its security barrier around Maale Adumim, which will cut the Palestinian West Bank into two cantons, shatters that hope.

As a Jewish American, I am devastated. President Bush should get the U.S. more involved to assure that Israel does not squander the opportunity for peace created by the Gaza withdrawal.
