Join chapter members for dinner with Steve Masters, currently a
national spokesperson and board member of Brit Tzedek v'Shalom
and also National Co-Chair of Advocacy. This is a good
opportunity to ask any questions about Brit Tzedek policy, U.S.
administration and congressional positions on the conflict, etc.
We will meet at Max's Deli & Restaurant, 191 Skokie Valley Rd
(just south of Lake Cook Rd. by Skokie Blvd in Crossroads

7:00pm PEACE ACTIVIST STORIES WITH STEVE MASTERS AND SAFFYIA
A short memorial service for former Israeli Prime Minister
Yitzhak Rabin followed by "Peace Activist Stories: An American
Jew and Palestinian Share their Perspectives on the
Israeli-Palestinian Situation." A presentation by Steve Masters
(see bio below) and Saffiya Shillo, Board Member, American Task
Force on Palestine (www.americantaskforce.com). This is unique
opportunity to hear Brit Tzedek national leader Steve Masters
and Chicago-based Palestinian activist Saffiya Shillo.
Co-sponsored by Brit Tzedek v'Shalom, Chicago Chapter. At
Lakeside Congregation for Reform Judaism, 1221 County Line Road,
Highland Park, Illinois (one block east of the Lake Cook exit
off Route 41).

the founders of Brit Tzedek v'Shalom, chair of the Boston
Chapter, and chair of Brit Tzedek's Membership and Outreach

STEVE MASTERS BIO:
Steve Masters has been active in the Jewish community for many
years. In 1990 Steve co-produced the first Israeli film festival
in Philadelphia and later that year co-founded the Shalom
Coalition, the Philadelphia progressive Jewish response to the
Gulf War. From 1991 to 1993, he was Associate Director of the
Jewish Peace Lobby in Silver Spring Maryland. From 1995 to the
present he has served as a Vice President of the Philadelphia
metropolitan area Jewish Labor Committee and for seven years
represented JLC on the Philadelphia Jewish Community Relations
Council board. In 2004 Steve was selected to his second two year
term on the JCRC Policy Board and is also a featured speaker for
the Philadelphia Jewish Community Relations Council on topics
relating to Israel. Steve has also served as an officer and
commission chair of the regional chapter of American Jewish
Congress and is a former board member of his synagogue Mishkan
Shalom in Oxborough. In 2000 Steve became a staff attorney to
the Philadelphia City Council, where he currently drafts
legislation and researches policy issues in the Council's
Technical Services Unit. Previously, he was an attorney with a
law firm that served unions, consumers, and disabled persons.
Steve earned his B.A. in Political Science from Yale University
in 1981 and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law 1986.
DONNA SPIEGELMAN BIO:
Donna Spiegelman has served as Chair of Brit Tzedek's Membership
and Outreach Committee since 2003 and sits on the Executive
Committee of Brit Tzedek's Board of Directors. She is also Chair
of the Boston Chapter which is one of the organizations largest
and most active, with 3100 supporters. The Boston chapter has
vigorous media, advocacy, event planning, and synagogue outreach
committees. They have met with all 10 MA congressmen and/or
their aides, as well as the aides of the two MA senators. They
have two chapter spokespeople, who are regularly called for
comment by the Boston Globe and the Boston Jewish Advocate.
Local rabbis affiliated with the chapter are in the process of
forming a local rabbinic cabinet, to complement the national
rabbinic cabinet. Donna is a Professor of Epidemiologic Methods
at the Harvard School of Public Health, and lives with her
partner and two daughters in Cambridge, MA.

Movie "Encounter Point" produced by Just Vision is a documentary
about the everyday leaders who refuse to sit back as the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict escalates. At Regal Lincolnshire 20
Cinemas, 300 Parkway Drive, Lincolnshire, 847-229-9100. The film
will screen several times daily. Please check local listings.
Director Ronit Avni and Film Subjects Ali Abu Awwad and Robi
Damelin will be at the November 9th screening.
Just Vision increases awareness about Palestinian and Israeli
non-violent, civilian-led efforts to build a base for peace in
the Middle East. Through online and face-to-face encounters,
Just Vision widens the influence of Jewish, Christian, Muslim
and secular advocates for peace by making their voices heard
