Marcia Freedman, Omar Dajani, and Jeff Albert

Brit Tzedek v'Shalom's Western Regional Conference 2006
President's Day Weekend, February 18-19
San Francisco Bay Area

Brit Tzedek must make clear to the American Jewish community and to the U.S. government that in this time of great uncertainty in Israeli-Palestinian political leadership it is critical that we stay the course in advocating for a negotiated two-state peace. From the Ground Up is structured to empower those attending to work toward these ends [Full agenda].

The conference will feature:
  • A keynote address--"The Israeli and Palestinian Elections: Negotiating National Identities"--by Stephen P. Cohen [Bio], founder and Director of the Institute for Middle East Peace and Economic Development, and Amjad Atallah[Bio], advisor to Yasser Abed Rabbo and the Palestinian Peace Coalition.
  • 15 workshops [description] Topics include the state of the burgeoning peace movement and how best to move it forward and hands-on grassroots organizing skills training covering a broad range of issues including the status of peace process politics on Capitol Hill; talking about the conflict in Jewish Congregations and opportunities for advocacy and activism in city councils and local political parties.
  • Networking opportunities for Brit Tzedek supporters and chapters in your region, and training in forming and maintaining new Brit Tzedek chapters

Our West Coast conference will be much more than a discussion of the facts on the ground: it will be an opportunity to develop and fine-tune methods to move the facts on the ground towards the goal of a just and viable peace, within an American Jewish framework.

We look forward to seeing you there!
