Dear Brit Tzedek members and supporters,

American Jews need to speak out now. Click here to act now!

While Israeli government "disengagement" and withdrawal from Gaza coule be a positive first step toward ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, recent statements by Prime Minister Sharon's Senior Advisor, Dov Weisglass, one of the initiators of the disengagement plan, indicate that it is instead being implemented as an end to the peace process.

More disturbing, this position has been represented as coming with the full support of the President and Congress of the United States. For background information click here.

Such statements need a sharp rebuke from the U.S. Administration. The only way true peace and security can be achieved for Israel is through a negotiated settlement leading to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Please write President Bush, Congress, and Jay Footlik, Senior Advisor on Middle East and Jewish Affairs to the Kerry Campaign to urge the Administration to make it clear to the Israeli government that its withdrawal from Gaza dodes not mean that Israel's abandonment of the peace process is sanctioned by the U.S. government.
