Brit Tzedek on Campus

Don't forget to sign the Open Letter to the Next President at

Please join me in welcoming Rebecca Hartman as the new Chair of our Campus Outreach Committee. She will be spearheading Brit Tzedek's efforts to expand our work on campus. Rebecca was the founding chair of our Madison, Wisconsin chapter where she brought together students and community members. Rebecca recently began her graduate studies at Brandeis University in the Hornstein Program in Jewish Communal Service.

The current focus of the Campus Outreach Committee is promoting the Open Letter from American Jews to the Next President on campus.  The committee is also looking at setting up speaking tours, expanding campus showings of selections from Brit Tzedek's video library, training students to conduct listening projects and much more.  If you are a college student and would like to join Brit Tzedek's Campus Outreach Committee, please contact Rebecca at

Brit Tzedek is also pleased to announce that we are co-sponsoring the inaugural conference of the Union of Progressive Zionists (UPZ), Friday through Sunday, October 15-17, 2004 in Newark, New Jersey. The UPZ hopes to establish a network of campus organizations that care about Israel and believe in a just and peaceful two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and an end to the occupation. Agenda highlights are below.

We will hold a meeting with Brit Tzedek affiliated college students during the conference, so please let us know if you plan to attend by writing to us at

As a co-sponsor Brit Tzedek is offering a limited number of scholarships to students who wish to attend the conference.  We have thus far enrolled participants from Bard College, Brandeis University, Clark University, Columbia University, New York University, University of California at Santa Cruz, University of Wisconsin at Madison, Wesleyan University and Yale University.
