Dear friend of Brit Tzedek v'Shalom,
I am writing to ask you to join Brit Tzedek--a nationwide
Jewish organization with more than 16,000 members and supporters
that calls for a safe and democratic Israel, homeland of the
Jewish people, alongside a viable and vibrant Palestinian state.
Via public presentations and informal gatherings with friends,
we strive to reach all parts of the American Jewish
community--our synagogues, our Hebrew schools, our local Jewish
Community Relations Councils--as well as the U.S. government,
with our message.
To join us, please go to http://btvshalom.org/btvshalom.org/join
or mail in the membership form appended at the end of this note.
I am astounded by our success in the two short years since
Brit Tzedek was founded. Together, we have:
-- Established more than 30 chapters in various stages of
formation all over the U.S., built and sustained by dedicated
people from both observant and secular traditions
-- Gained more than 10,000 signers on our Call to Bring the
Settlers Home from all 50 states. This petition drive urges our
government to assist in the voluntary relocation of the tens of
thousands of Israeli settlers living beyond the 1967 borders to
return home to Israel, thereby removing one of the foremost
barriers on the path to peace.
-- Held our groundbreaking national conference last fall in
my hometown of Boston, where Naomi Chazan, former Meretz party
member of Knesset, and MK Amram Mitzna, former general and
candidate for Israeli Prime Minister, transfixed the gathering
of 650 members and supporters with their common vision of a
better future for Israel and for Jews everywhere. The
conference was also a presidential campaign stop for
representatives from the Dean, Kerry and Kucinich camps who
informed our members of their candidate’s views on the
role the U.S. should play in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian
conflict, and then took questions and comments from our members.
-- Launched our Spirit of Geneva advocacy campaign--a
grassroots effort to spread the word and consolidate support for
the principles of the model final status agreement which
resolves all the outstanding issues of the Israeli-Palestinian
conflict. This model was authored by leading Israeli and
Palestinian politicians and security experts from across the
political divides in both societies. (Send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org
with your full address and telephone number if you'd like to
invite your friends and neighbors to learn more at a Spirit of
Geneva house party, facilitated by a Brit Tzedek v'Shalom
activist in your community.).
You have already demonstrated interest in our efforts and
agenda. Now, please take the next step and officially join us as
a member. Annual membership is $35--or more if you are
able. Individual contributions comprise more than half of
our annual operating budget, making it possible for us to reach
out to the approximately 2.5 million American Jews who agree
with our views but who are not yet active. Membership dues are
critical to all components of our outreach efforts, from
maintaining our website to producing educational materials and
providing crucial support to our growing network of chapters.
To join us, please go to www.btvshalom.org/join
or mail in the form appended at the end of this note.
If you prefer, you can also telephone 773-583-5747 and give
our staff your credit card and other information over the phone.
To become a more effective voice, we need your support. As we
grow larger, we grow ever stronger. All of us, together, can let
the world know that American Jews want peace and justice.
As it is said "Yesh Breira" (There is a choice), please make
yours to join us.
Thank you for all that you have done so far,
