Ivan Handler is a Brit Tzedek Board Member and co-Chair of the Chicago chapter. He has been a political activist since 1964, when he was involved in the Civil Rights/Black Liberation and anti-war movements. He also worked with Science for the People in the 70s and with Students for a Democratic Society, Weatherman (Boston Collective) and a few other cadre organizations through the 80s. In the early 1990s, he helped Carl Davidson found Networking for Democracy. Most recently, he has been involved with Growing Home, a new initiative in Chicago to help provide homeless people with jobs in the organic urban agriculture movement. He is a member in good standing of the anti-war/anti-Bush movement and a certified voter registrar.
