|Advocating for Israel and for Peace on Campus
The mainstream and the Jewish media ---in channels as diverse as Newsweek and NPR, Moment Magazine and Ha'aretz--have highlighted the fact that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to cause major battles on college campuses across the USA and Canada. Too often, the two sides are portrayed as absolutely polarized. It need not be this way; rather, the campus is the ideal place to discuss reconciliation, co-existence, and a just solution to the conflict.
Gwynn Kessler, Assistant Professor at University of Florida, Rabbi Jonathan Crane, graduate adviser at Harvard Hillel, Susannah Heschel, director of Jewish Studies at Dartmouth, and Robin Katz, a sophomore at Brandeis will share stories from the field, with a focus on strategies for turning the campus from an ideological battlefield into a center for dialogue and creative ideas.
