Barbara Lahav was born in the United States but lived for over 15 years in Jerusalem. She attended Bezalel School of Art and Design and worked on exhibits at the Israel Museum. From 1979 1981 Barbara served as the Managing Editor for one of the Ha'Aretz Newspaper Group publications: Kol Ha'Ir, the local Jerusalem weekly. Throughout the years in Israel and in Seattle, Washington, Barbara has been active in progressive Jewish and Israeli organizations and active in Middle East peace work. Barbara actively participates with programming in Seattle for the Israel Policy Forum and Find Common Ground. She attended the founding conference of Brit Tzedek v'Shalom.
In the local community Barbara is involved with the Middle East Peace Camp, A Muslim/Jewish Womenıs Dialogue Group called: Beyond Borders and an interfaith organization for peace in the Middle East called: Find Common Ground. Barbara has over 30 years experience as a Program Director, Event Planner and Executive Director for organizations as diverse as: Herzl-Ner Tamid Conservative Congregation and the Womenıs Endowment Foundation. During the past two years Barbara and Find Common Ground have organized large public presentations in Seattle by Egyptian Ambassador: Nabil Fahmy, Professor Stephen P. Cohen, Khalil Shikaki, Jonathan Jacoby, Avrum Burg, Yasser Abed Rabbo, Ami Ayalon, Sari Nusseibeh and others.
In January of 2004, Barbara was introduced to the photography work of Beverly Duperly Boos and the photo exhibit: Opening of the Heart. Since May of 2004 Barbara has been working full time as the Development Curator of this exhibition.
