Harvey Stein has worked professionally in the film and theater worlds as a writer, director, actor, and teacher. Much of his work has focused on Jewish themes. He is in pre-production for his current feature film project, Heart of a Stranger, about a romance between a Jewish-American woman and a Palestinian man. His one-person theater piece, “Cruising With My Ancestors,” was performed all over the U.S., as well as in Jerusalem, Moscow, and Prague. Harvey was the 1998 National Artist-in-Residence at Temple Israel (Minneapolis), in a program funded by the National Foundation for Jewish Culture. Stein’s screenplay McWorld recently was awarded the Reel Roundtable Screenplay Award (NYC), and his screenplay You Call This a HOME?! was a finalist in the ScreenLabs (Minnesota) Contest in 1999.
