David Harris is a co-founder and Artistic Director of Voices of Sepharad. He has pursued study and performance of Sephardic music throughout N. America, Morocco, Greece, France, Israel, Turkey, Poland, Bosnia, and Spain. Harris has received many awards supporting his fieldwork and performances, including recent grants from the Luce and Rockefeller Foundations to underwrite a regional tour of Tales of Djoha: Trickster in Two Worlds. Integrating his skills as a singer, actor, and dancer, Harris has appeared with the Minnesota Opera, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Corning Dances & Company, Guthrie Theater, North Star Opera, In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater, Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, and Illusion Theater. In 1997, Harris collaborated with writer Eric Bentley to create To Those Who Come After: The Voice of Bertolt Brecht and has co-authored 3 plays.
