Jewish Council for Public Affairs
Hadar Susskind is the Washington Director for the Jewish Council For Public Affairs. Over more than a half century the JCPA has proven itself to be an effective coordinating body for the diverse groups - 125 local Community Relations Councils and 13 national agencies throughout the United States - that together comprise the Jewish community relations field. As Washington Director for JCPA, Mr. Susskind's role is to be the voice of the Jewish community to Members of Congress, Administration officials and other policy makers. He also facilitates the flow of information to the whole community relations field on a broad array of international as well as domestic issues. Mr. Susskind also directs JCPA's Taskforce on Equal Opportunity and Social Justice.Before joining the JCPA, Mr. Susskind was the Washington Representative for the Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life (COEJL). His work there entailed determining COEJL's public policy agenda, representing COEJL's positions to Congressional and Administration officials, working to raise the level of environmental awareness and activism within the Jewish community and building Jewish and interfaith coalitions to address environmental issues. Hadar was twice elected as Chair of the Washington Inter-religious Staff Community's Energy and Ecology Working Group. Prior to his time at COEJL, Mr. Susskind served as Assistant Director of the Washington Office of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, and also worked in the Washington office of the Israel Policy Forum. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland and holds the rank of Sergeant First Class in the Israel Defense Forces where he was decorated for his service as a combat soldier.
